Starting XI

Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer are the two youngsters who come into Pep Guardiola’s XI. Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne provide able back-up off the bench. Seven changes from the weekend as Kalvin Phillips returns to the squad.

Mateo Kovacic returns to a midfield featuring young Lewis Hall for Chelsea. Trevoh Chalobah, Edouard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marc Cucurella are the only players to survive from the defeat against Arsenal. Like City, the visitors have picked a strong bench but find space for Omari Hutchinson.
