Chelsea have reached an agreement over a transfer fee with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to acquire defender Nathan Ake, according to reports.
The 27-year-old Dutch international the Cityzens two years ago, but has never really developed into anything more than a bit-part player under manager Pep Guardiola, and this has seen him recently being linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.
It was first reported last month that the Blues were in talks with City over a potential move for the Ake, before Fabrizio Romano revealed last week that the player had agreed personal terms over a return to Stamford Bridge.
In an article published by 90 Min, it was claimed that Ake is ‘closing in’ on a transfer to Chelsea, with the two clubs involved having now ‘agreed’ a £45m fee.
Ake made just ten starts in the top-flight under Pep Guardiola last season – following on from the nine appearances he had in the 2020/2021 campaign, and he is behind fellow centre-backs John Stones and Ruben Dias in the pecking order.
