Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has claimed the 2021/2022 Premier League Goal of the Season award, following his brilliant solo effort against Manchester City when both sides met at Anfield in October 2021.

The 29-year-old Egyptian saw off competition from Miguel Almiron (Newcastle United), Danny Ings (Aston Villa), Mateo Kovacic (Chelsea), Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal), Rodri (Manchester City), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Heung-min Son (Tottenham Hotspurs), Andros Townsend (Everton) and Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) to land the accolade.
The Reds forward won the award after showing incredible skill and strength to weave past three players, before twisting and turning past a fourth and drilling a shot beyond Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson from a tight angle with his right foot. The match finished 2-2 between Liverpool and Man City.
Salah’s goal received the most combined votes by the public and a panel of football experts, topping a shortlist that featured each of the season’s Budweiser Goal of the Month winners plus one standout strike from May.

The award completes a hat-trick of individual honours for Mo Salah this season, after he was named the Football Writers Association (FWA) Player of the Year and also been named the Playmaker of the Season for racking up 13 assists in the league.
