Barcelona are held to a 0-0 draw at home by Galatasaray

Barcelona have been held to a goalless draw by Galatasaray in the first leg of their Europa League round-of-16 clash at Camp Nou.

Frenkie de Jong came the closest for the home side when he struck the post from close range, while Memphis Depay was twice denied by Inaki Pena, on loan at Galatasaray from Barca. The Turkish outfit were resilient at the back to claim a clean sheet to leave the match at level pegging heading into the second leg.

Barcelona entertained Galatasaray in the last-16 of the Europa League this evening in the kind of game that could quite easily have been a Champions League fixture.

While Xavi has a long way to go if he’s going to restore former glories at the Camp Nou, Barca’s form of late has been particularly impressive. Unbeaten in nine games heading into the clash with another giant of the European game, in a bid to end the season with a trophy.
