EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal Land First Winter Signing Leandro Trossard from Brighton in a £27m Deal.

Premier League table-toppers Arsenal have agreed a fee of £27 million pounds including add-ons with fellow top-flight outfit Brighton and Hove Albion for the transfer of Belgium international Leandro Trossard.

The Gunners entered talks to sign the Belgian forward after earlier missing out on their number one target Mykhailo Mudryk, who left Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk to fellow London rivals Chelsea.

It was inevitable that Trossard would head out the exit door at the Amex Stadium, having fallen out with manager Roberto de Zerbi – who questioned the player’s commitment.

The move would make Trossard Arsenal’s first signing of the January transfer window, as Edu looks to answer Mikel Arteta’s call for more firepower in his squad.

Starting XI

Wout Weghorst and Lisandro Martinez spent about 44 minutes on the same pitch at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar just over a month ago, on a night when there was more than a little aggro between the two teams. At that point neither would have expected to be sharing a pitch again so soon, especially on the same team. Weghorst starts for United just 11 days after his last appearance for Besiktas. Martinez starts for just the second time since the World Cup.

Wolves 0-1 Liverpool: Harvey Elliott’s strike earns the Reds First Win of 2023 as the Holders Reach FA Cup 4th Round

Holders Liverpool Football Club advanced into the fourth round of the English FA Cup, following a slim 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their third-round replay clash at the Molineux.

Harvey Elliott fired a screamer in the 13th minute of the first half, which proved to be enough for the reigning champions to seal their passage into the next stage of the FA Cup. The victory also saw Jurgen Klopp’s side earn their first win of the 2023 calendar year, having been winless in three previous games.

Harry Kane is targeting another landmark day in the north London derby. The Tottenham striker is one goal away from matching Jimmy Greaves’s all-time Spurs record of 266 goals and is also just two shy of 200 Premier League goals.

With 14 goals in 18 games against Arsenal, Kane is the record scorer in north London derbies, and it would be extra special to pass those two milestones this weekend. But standing in his way will be the best Arsenal centre-back pairing he has faced since his first game against the Gunners, in 2015.

Gabriel and William Saliba have developed into a brilliant partnership, helping create a solid foundation for their title challenge. The pair have started every Premier League game this season at the heart of a defence that has conceded just 14 goals in 17 matches.

OFFICIAL: Mykhaylo Mudryk joins Chelsea on 8-year deal from Shakhtar Donetsk

Chelsea have completed the signing of Ukraine forward Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 22-year old arrives at Stamford Bridge on an eight-and-a-half year deal for a fee of 70m euros (£62m), plus a further 30m euros (£27m) in bonuses.

Chelsea beat Premier League rivals Arsenal to the signing of Mudryk, who scored seven goals in 12 league appearances for Shakhtar this season.

“I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea,” said Mudryk.

“This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”

Mudryk is at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

He had looked set to sign for Arsenal, but Shakhtar confirmed club president Rinat Akhmetov met with Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali on Saturday to discuss the player’s move to west London.

“I am convinced Mykhailo will win the respect, sympathy and love of all connoisseurs of world football with his speed, his technique, his bright and beautiful game,” said Akhmetov.

Some suprises in that Chelsea team, including a debut in defence for £35m January signing Benoit Badiashile. He replaces Kalidou Koulibaly, who drops to the bench in one of five changes this afternoon despite scoring in the defeat at Fulham on Thursday.

It’s a new trio in midfield, with Conor Gallagher starting against the club for whom he starred on loan last term, along with Jorginho and young Carney Chukwuemeka. Denis Zakaria misses out through injury, with Cesar Azpilicueta and Mateo Kovacic dropping to the bench in another expected formation change from Graham Potter.

Hakim Ziyech is also in, joining Mason Mount and Kai Havertz in attack with still no starting berth for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang despite the suspension of Joao Felix. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is back in the squad in a rare injury boost for Chelsea.

JUST IN: Chelsea AGREE €100m Euros Fee with Shakhtar Donetsk for the Transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk

Premier League outfit Chelsea are reportedly ‘very close’ to the acquisition of Mykhaylo Mudryk from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, thus scuppering a planned move by fellow London giants Arsenal.

The Blues heirarchy had jetted out to Poland to hold talks with Shakhtar, and now look set to hijack the Gunners’ proposed move for the Ukraine international. Arsenal had made an offer believed to be worth £84m (€100m) including add-ons.

The Athletic claims that Mudryk is open to joining Chelsea, despite having repeatedly hinted throughout the January window that he wants to join London rivals Arsenal. It was widely expected that a move to the Emirates was imminent, and that he might make his debut against Manchester United next Sunday.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Saturday evening that Chelsea have struck an agreement worth £88m pounds with Shakhtar regarding the purchase of Mudryk. It is said they are now trying to convince the player to make the move to West London.

Mudryk has been made aware of Chelsea’s growing interest and it is repotted that he is open to moving to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s fee would be a guaranteed amount of between £53m to £62m, with £26.5m to £35m to come in the form of add-ons.
