Mendes has made it clear that Ronaldo would accept a significant pay cut

Mendes has made it clear that Ronaldo would accept a significant pay cut and would like to join a Champions League side where he is not the only one carrying the weight.

According to sources close to Ronaldo, not only does he want to join a Champions League team, but he wants a team where he doesn’t feel like he is the only one carrying the weight. He wants the support of his teammates and believes that is key to staying on top, especially important in a World Cup year when there will be more games to play come mid-season.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of De Jong, with the transfer fee expected to be £63.6 million + £8.5 million in add-ons. United have agreed to increase the fixed fee by £8.4 million and reduce the add-ons, and will now wait to see if Barca are willing to use the proceeds of the transfer to repay some of the salary they owe De Jong.

Barca are considering keeping De Jong at home before flying to Miami at the weekend as a way of resolving the transfer issue. The transfer is unlikely to happen until De Jong’s wages are agreed, and Barca need De Jong to leave in order to free up more payroll space to complete the registration of new signings, with Rafinha, Christensen and Kessie signed this summer.

United also want to resolve the transfer issue as soon as possible and will continue to wait for things to develop, even if the transfer is not completed by August 7 against Brighton. Tenhag believes that De Jong will be a central part of his plans to rebuild United and he is convinced that the wait will be worth it. United insiders also believe that if De Jong had not been prepared to join them, things would not have come to this point, despite the local press in Barcelona stating that De Jong wants to stay at Barca.

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson feels patient with £85m summer signing Darwin Nunez

On what it’s like to train with Darwin Nunez and if he’s done anything to stand out so far ……
Comments Off on He’s high! It hasn’t been too long since we came back into the team, but we have to let him get used to it first. He’s looking good in training and the Brazilian gang and the other Portuguese-speaking people have helped him a lot. I haven’t had many conversations with him yet, we just nod and smile at each other, but we’ll get to know each other. He’s a very good player, we’ve played against him before and he made it very difficult for our defenders in two games if he can put in a performance like that then he’ll be a very good player for us.

The team is obviously training a bit faster than everyone else’s at the moment because the Community Shield is coming up and we’ll be ready for that game. We haven’t had that long of a break, especially with the international players, but we’ve had enough time to tune up mentally and physically and everyone is feeling good physically. Now it’s just a matter of picking up the pace and I’m sure we’ll be ready for the first game of the season.

Manchester United 4-0 Liverpool

Manchester United have made a good start to their pre-season preparations. Eric ten Hague’s side dominated the friendly against Liverpool in Bangkok on Tuesday, with goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Anthony Martial and Facundo Pelisteri.

Sancho opened the scoring for his side just 13 minutes into the game, capitalising on a poor clearance to get past Alisson. Fred doubled his side’s lead with a great shot after 30 minutes, while Martial made it 3-0 just three minutes later.

The game started with Liverpool having five teenagers until the 61st minute before introducing big names Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk or summer signing Darwin Nunez, and they left themselves too much to do, with United’s brilliant fourth goal from Facundo Pelisteri putting the stamp on an encouraging victory.

Ten Hague’s tenure may still be in its infancy, a performance almost certainly aided by Jürgen Klopp’s team selection, but there are plenty of positives for United and with a solid squad, a rebuilt dressing room and the addition of new players, there is reason to be optimistic.
