EXCLUSIVE: Paris Saint Germain SUSPEND Lionel Messi for TWO WEEKS over Unauthorized Saudi Arabia Trip

French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain have handed a two-week suspension without pay to midfielder Lionel Messi, following his trip to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission.

The 35 year-old made the journey after the French club’s 3-1 home defeat to visiting Lorient last Sunday, in which Messi played the entire 90 minutes. It is understood that the Argentina captain sought permission to make the journey to undertake some commercial work but was refused.

Messi has a role as a tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia, and travelled to the Middle Eastern country for a commercial engagement.

As a result, Messi will neither train nor play for the capital outfit during the period of his suspension. The World Cup winner’s two-year contract with PSG will run out at the end of the current campaign.

Messi who has been touted for a return to boyhood club FC Barcelona, has scored 31 goals and registered 34 assists in 71 games in all competitions for PSG throughout his time in France, and he won the top-flight title last season.
