Man City 3-0 Bayern Munich: Cityzens tear Bavarians to pieces at the Etihad, Haaland, Rodri on target >>>

Manchester City put on a clinical display as they secured a 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in their Champions League quarter-final clash at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the match from start to finish, and Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich had no answer to City’s ruthless attacking play.

The first goal of the match came in the 27th minute when Rodri unleashed a sensational left-footed strike from 25 yards out that curled into the far top corner of the net. The Bayern Munich goalkeeper was left with no chance as the ball flew past him into the back of the net.

City continued to apply pressure and were rewarded for their efforts in the 70th minute when Silva doubled their lead. It was a disastrous mistake by Bayern Munich’s Upamecano, who was caught on the ball just outside his own box, allowing City to pounce. Grealish played a pass to Haaland, who then set up Silva to head home.

City’s third goal came just seven minutes later when Stones nodded a cross across the goalmouth, and Haaland was left unmarked at the back post to slot home easily. It was a huge blow for Bayern Munich, who had no answer to City’s attacking prowess.

The final score of 3-0 was a fair reflection of the match, with City fully deserving of their victory. Pep Guardiola will be delighted with his team’s performance, and they will be looking to build on this momentum as they look to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Starting XI

Just the one change for Man City, as Bernardo Silva comes into the side for Riyad Mahrez on the right wing. Otherwise it’s as expected, with John Stones continuing in his hybrid right-back/midfield role, and Nathan Ake at left-back.

For Bayern, Joao Cancelo does not start against his parent club, with Benjamin Pavard getting the nod. Serge Gnabry leads the line with Jamal Musiala behind him – Sadio Mane and Thomas Muller both on the bench.
