Newcastle 2-0 Man United: Wilson, Willock on target as Toons down Red Devils at St James Park

In a stunning upset, Newcastle United claimed a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Sunday. The Magpies secured their second win in three games, while the Red Devils’ title hopes suffered a significant blow.

Joe Willock was the hero for Newcastle, scoring the opening goal in the 65th minute. He scored an impressive header from close range. Allan Saint-Maximin was the architect of the goal, with a superb header back across the box to set up Willock.

With the scoreline at 1-0, Manchester United pushed for an equalizer, but Newcastle’s defense held strong. As the game entered its final stages, Steve Bruce brought on Callum Wilson, and the striker made an immediate impact. Just minutes after coming on, Wilson rose highest to head in Kieran Trippier’s corner, sealing a famous victory for the home side.

The result sees Newcastle leapfrog Manchester United in the Premier League table, with both sides level on points but the Magpies ahead on goal difference. It was a deserved win for Newcastle, who defended resolutely and showed plenty of attacking intent throughout the game.

For Manchester United, it was a frustrating afternoon, with their star-studded attack unable to break down a stubborn Newcastle defense.
