Chelsea 0-2 Aston Villa: The Villans increase the pressure on the Blues, Watkins and McGinn on Target>>>

There seems to be no end in sight for Chelsea Football Club, as they suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in their Premier League Matchday 29 encounter at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.

The Blues were dominant in possession but struggled to create clear scoring opportunities against a disciplined Villa defence. The visitors almost took the lead in the first quarter of an hour but John McGinn and Ollie Watkins could not convert.

The opener eventually came in the 18th minute through Ollie Watkins. The Englishman capitalized on a mistimed header to lob Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and give Unai Emery’s side the lead which they took into the interval.

Scottish international John McGinn extended Villa’s advantage, when his 25-yard rocket found the back of the net. The Blues still retained the larger share of the possession in the latter stages as they sought to make a comeback but the Villans held firm for all three points.

Chelsea’s hopes of reaching the UEFA Champions League next season are looking slimmer with each passing weekend, and the pressure will definitely be on manager Graham Potter and the club’s heirarchy led by chairman Todd Boehly.
