Guinea Bissau recorded a famous victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifying Matchday Three clash, which went down at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Friday.

The home side were only in the encounter in the opening ten minutes and had large chunks of the possession, but it was the Guineans who had the all-important goal in the 30th minute through Mama Balde, who latched on to Opa Sangate’s long ball from their half to slot home.
Every attempt by the Super Eagles to restore parity proved futile, as the visitors were resolute in defending as they went on to claim all three points on offer and move to top spot in the group. The win is Guinea Bissau’s first over Nigeria and their biggest win in their footballing history.
Both sides take to the pitch in the return leg next Monday, with the Super Eagles aiming to right the wrongs in tonight’s encounter.
