Following the conclusion of the playoff round which saw eight clubs book their passage into the last-16 stage on Thursday, teams will be interested in finding out their opponents in the next phase.

English Premier League sides Manchester United and Arsenal will discover their next European opposition in the last 16 of the Europa League, with both teams facing different scenarios.

After seeing off Barcelona on Thursday night, Manchester United booked their place alongside Arsenal in today’s Europa League draw.

Erik ten Hag’s men had to come from behind to seal their spot in the next round, ultimately running out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford, and emerging victorious 4-3 on aggregate.

Now the Red Devils await their last 16 fate, entering the next round as one of the eight unseeded teams. Others include perennial Europa winners Sevilla, Juventus, Sporting Lisbon and Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Arsenal were not involved in the playoff round, having topped their group prior to the FIFA World Cup last year. Thus, Mikel Arteta’s men are one of eight seeded sides. Others include Spanish duo Real Betis and Real Sociedad, as well as Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise.

Based on the rules of the competition, teams from the same national association are restricted from facing each other until the quarter-finals. This means there will be no all-Premier League or an all-Serie A clash in the next round.
