Manchester City earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Arsenal in a fiercely contested Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium. The reigning champions were superior throughout the game and deservedly took the lead in the 24th minute. A poor backpass from Arsenal’s Tomiyasu was pounced on by City’s Kevin De Bruyne, who took advantage of Ramsdale’s out-of-position to slot the ball into an empty net.
Despite City’s dominance, Arsenal managed to grab an equalizer in the 42nd minute, thanks to a controversial penalty decision. Bukayo Saka converted the spot kick to bring the game to levels.
However, the visitors regained the lead just six minutes into the second half, after Arsenal’s sloppy passes allowed Haaland to take advantage and play it inside to Gundogan. The midfielder then let the ball run for Grealish, who showed great composure to score.
Tempers boiled over in the closing stages of the match when De Bruyne shoved Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, on the touchline, leading to a heated exchange between the two. However, it was Haaland who had the final say, hammering the ball into the bottom corner to wrap up the scoring in the 71st minute, all coming from a brilliant De Bruyne run.
Manchester City’s win takes them to the top of the Premier League table, although Arsenal still have a game in hand. The result shows that Guardiola has schooled his former assistant Arteta, as the Gunners struggled to keep up with City’s relentless pressing and attacking quality throughout the game. It was a well-deserved win for the visitors, who look like the team to beat once again this season.

Kick Off!
And so it begins!
Starting XI
Partey does indeed miss out for Arsenal as expected, with Jorginho coming in to make his first start for the club. White also drops out of the side, named on the bench as Tomiyasu starts at right-back. Otherwise it’s as expected from Arsenal, with Martinelli keeping his place and Trossard among the substitutes.
As for Man City, Haaland is fit to lead the line and Grealish and Mahrez are the two either side of him. Ake comes in for Laporte, but it looks like it could be that hybrid system for City that they used against Aston Villa at the weekend. That would see Silva potentially filling in at left-back, up against Saka.
