PSG 0-1 Bayern Munich: Kingsley Coman returns to hurt his former team AGAIN as Bavarians down Parisians in Paris

In a closely contested match, PSG suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 at the Parc des Princes.

The game was played at a high tempo, with both sides creating chances in the first half. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net, with the defenses holding strong.

The second half started much like the first, with both teams battling for control. It was Bayern Munich who struck first, with Kingsley Coman scoring in the 53rd minute against his former team yet again. Despite scoring against his former club, Coman did not celebrate, showing respect to his former teammates and the club that gave him his big break.

Mbappe, who had started the game on the bench, was brought on in to inject some pace into the attack. The Frenchman had an immediate impact, causing problems for the Bayern Munich defense with his blistering runs.

In the 83rd minute, Mbappe appeared to have scored the equalizer, however, the goal was disallowed for offside, much to the disappointment of the home crowd.

Despite their best efforts, PSG were unable to find a way past the Bayern Munich defense, and the match ended in a 1-0 victory for the German side. The result leaves PSG with a difficult task in the second leg, as they will need to score at least two goals to have a chance of advancing to the quarter-finals.

Bayern Munich, on the other hand, will be pleased with the result and will look to finish the job in the second leg at home.

Guess who’s back!

Goal! PSG 0-1 Bayern Munich

Coman does it again for Bayern against his former side! Davies swings the cross in, Coman free at the back post and he just cushions a volley into the back of the net. Not great goalkeeping. At all.

Second half

We would be hoping for more firepower in this second half!

Half-time

PSG put up a solid fight in the first half with their top-level football skills on full display. However, despite their best efforts, they failed to hit the target even once. This is a bit surprising considering their formidable attacking duo of Messi and Neymar. Nevertheless, the game is far from over, and with the second half yet to come, PSG have ample opportunity to turn things around and prove their worth.

Kick Off

Time to get up and running in Paris!

That Jam!!!

The teams are out onto the Parc des Princes. Plenty of shouting in the tunnel. Michael Oliver is on officiating duty tonight – if we could have a night without some VAR drama that would be lovely. Time for the Champions League anthem!

Starting XI

One back, one on the bench for PSG. Messi returns and is fit to partner Neymar, but Mbappe has to settle for a place on the bench. Not a bad substitution to make. Verratti is fit to start, while 16-year-old Zaire-Emery also gets the nod in midfield. He was born in 2006. Yes, 2006. It’s not fair really.

Kimmich is back from suspension for Bayern, and lines up in midfield alongside Goretzka. Cancelo makes his first European appearance for the club after his loan move from Manchester City, while Sane and Coman start in wide areas and Choupo-Moting leads the line. Plenty of decent options off the bench – Muller, Gnabry and Davies just a few of those waiting in reserve.
