Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang OMITTED from Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League Squad

Chelsea striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will play no part in the club’s sojourn in the 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League campaign, after he was omitted for the knockout stages of the competition.

The former Arsenal and FC Barcelona hitman who arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer, has not started a match for the West London outfit since November following an underwhelming season thus far and Blues boss Graham Potter has axed the Gabon star.

Instead, new buy and record-breaking signing Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix have been included. Also, winter acquisition Benoit Badiashile is not listed on Chelsea’s UEFA squad page after joining in a £35m deal last month.

Chelsea were only allowed to register a maximum of three new players for the knockout stages of the Champions League, before taking on Borussia Dortmund in the Round-Of-16 on February 15th.

All clubs are limited to a 25-man squad and Chelsea used 24 players in the group stage, with only one of them – Jorginho – leaving the club in the January transfer window. Clubs had to inform UEFA of their desired squad changes by 11pm on Thursday, February 2.
