Four-time champions Germany are on the brink of elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stages, following an entertaining 1-1 draw with European heavyweights Spain at the Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday night.

The Spaniards dominated possession as expected but it was substitute Alvaro Morata who put the 2010 champions ahead in the 62nd minute.

La Furia Roja’s lead lasted around twenty minutes as another substitute Niclas Fullkrug levelled the tie for Hansi Flick’s men. The game finished 1-1 but Germany do not have their fate in their own hands as they need to win their last group match and hope that results go their way elsewhere.
