Breakdown
This draw will establish the round of 16 ties to be played on February 14, 15, 21 and 22, and the return legs on March 7, 8, 14 and 15.
As in the group stage, teams from the same country cannot play each other. Real Madrid doesn’t have this problem, since they are the only Spanish club still in the competition.
The Pots
City have six potential opponents for the last-16 draw – but the one they really would like to avoid is Paris Saint-Germain.
The French side finished second in their group after Benfica blitzed Maccabi Haifa 6-1 on the final matchday. That result left both sides level on points, goal difference, head-to-head record and goals scored.
The next deciding factor was away goals scored and the Portuguese side duly came out on top. PSG are still searching for their first Champions League title, with their final appearance in 2020 the closest they have come so far.
