DONE: Phil Foden Signs Five-Year Contract Extension with Manchester City

Manchester City star Phil Foden has penned a new contract extension with the reigning Premier League champions, following his impressive performances.

The 22 year-old England midfielder has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal worth £55million pounds, which will keep him at the Etihad until the summer of 2027.

City had been negotiating the new £225,000-a-week deal with Foden for months, as they sought to reward his status as one of City’s key men.

The new deal sees Foden become one of the best-paid young talents in world football. The England and City forward insisted his bumper new contract was a “dream come true” and says he wants to repay his boyhood club and manager Pep Guardiola with more goals and trophies.

“It’s an extremely proud moment for me and my family,” he said. “Obviously being a massive City fan myself and coming through the academy, to extend my stay here is all I’ve ever dreamed of. This year, I think I’ve been scoring a lot more goals so hopefully I can keep going in that direction. I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself. I just try to keep focused and keep performing on the pitch. I think I’m just myself.”

Foden has helped the Cityzens claim eleven trophies thus far, and he insists there is every chance of adding more silverware this season.
