FC Copenhagen 0-0 Manchester City: Mahrez MISSES penalty, Gomez SEES RED as the Visitors are HELD to a STALEMATE

Manchester City were held to a goalless draw by Danish side FC Copenhagen in their UEFA Champions League Group Stage Matchday Four encounter on Tuesday evening.

The opening period was very eventful – first, Rodri thought he had put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute, only for his effort to be cancelled after Riyad Mahrez was adjudged to have handled the ball in the build-up.

Pep Guardiola’s men were awarded a penalty after the referee consulted with the VAR for handball but Riyad Mahrez missed the resulting spot-kick.

Things got worse for the visitors when Sergio Gomez received his marching orders for denying the hosts a clear goalscoring opportunity. Both sides went into the interval level.

The second half offered little in terms of action as both teams earned a share of the spoils.
