Manchester United 0-1 Real Sociedad: Red Devils SUCCUMB to Second-Half Spot-kick from Mendez

Manchester United were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford by Spanish La Liga outfit Real Sociedad, as the Red Devils 2022/2023 UEFA Europa League campaign commenced on a negative note.

The only goal of the game came through controversial circumstances, as the center referee called for a penalty after the ball touched the hand of Lisandro Martinez.

Mendez put the resulting spot-kick beyond Martin Dubravka to gift the visitors the three points.

Both sides paid their tributes following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday afternoon.
