It might have taken until the very end of the transfer window, but Chelsea have confirmed the signing of a striker. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed a deal that saw Chelsea pay £12m with Marcos Alonso included as player swop.

After allowing Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to depart the club, Thomas Tuchel had been left without a natural number nine in his squad, in spite of his preference for using Kai Havertz as the focal point. However Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang touched down in London earlier on Thursday evening, telling reporters that he is indeed back in the Premier League.


The transfer window has officially shut as the final deals are worked on by Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. The Gunners wanted to further bolster their midfield but failed with THREE bids for Douglas Luiz – and also missed out on signing Danilo after exploring that deal. Hector Bellerin is set to sign for Barcelona in a free transfer.

Chelsea have agreed a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Marcos Alonso heading to Barcelona in a player-plus-cash arrangement. The Blues have missed out on Memphis Depay but did have better luck with Denis Zakaria, with the Swiss midfielder passing his medical after Ajax defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez and PSG superstar Neymar stayed put.

Bellerin signs one-year Barca deal

Hector Bellerin has re-signed for Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal. The deal also includes a substantial sell-on clause for the Gunners if Bellerin was to leave the Nou Camp. He has signed a one-year deal.

Leicester have completed the signing of Reims defender Wout Faes. The centre-back has penned a five-year deal as he moves to the King Power Stadium. Faes moves to the Premier League, having made 73 appearances in Ligue 1, and this summer made his international debut for Belgium in the Nations League. The 24-year-old becomes the first outfield player to join the Foxes in this transfer window.

Man City sign Akanji from Dortmund

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of defender Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund. The 27-year-old Switzerland international has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027.

City have paid an initial fee of just over £15million for Akanji, who arrives in Manchester after making 158 appearances in all competitions across five seasons. “I am delighted to be here and can’t wait to get started,” Akanji said.

Arthur set to join Liverpool

Gianluca Di Marzio now reports the 26-year-old is set to sign for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Liverpool have been short in midfield due to injuries and have been linked with several options.

Di Marzio states Arthur will be joining Liverpool on loan, and there’s no mention of any purchase option. He’s set to travel from Turin to Merseyside for a medical and to complete the formalities required to seal the deal.

Spurs swoop in for Ziyech

Tottenham have entered the running to sign Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech, according to the Evening Standard. Talks are already underway between the parties over a transfer and personal terms. 

It was reported earlier in the week that Chelsea have dropped their asking price for the winger to £21m.

Sterling to leave Chelsea on loan

No, not that Sterling… Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling is believed to be having a medical at Stoke ahead of joining on a season-long loan, according to The Athletic. t’s thought there was lots of interest from elsewhere in England and abroad in the Chelsea academy graduate, but Championship side Stoke had been tracking him for a while and need a right wing-back.

After speaking to new manager Alex Neil — who replaced Michael O’Neill earlier this week — and learning about the project, the 22-year-old Sterling has agreed to join. Stoke’s Premier League history, their infrastructure and ambition to return to the top flight are said to all be key factors in Sterling’s decision.

The transfer window is down to the wire as clubs make last ditch effort to recruit players. Deadline day deals are usually dramatic and this season might not be different as there are a numbers of deals that might be made in the final hours of the summer transfer market.
