JUST IN: Martial OUT of Southampton Clash as he Suffers Injury Setback, Casemiro in line for Man Utd Debut

France and Manchester United pointman Anthony Martial will miss the club’s trip away to Southampton in a Matchday Four encounter at the St. Mary’s Stadium, after suffering a setback on an Achilles problem.

United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed the latest development during his presser ahead of the Red Devils early kick-off Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The 26 year-old had a brilliant pre-season and was heavily tipped to be the first-choice striker, before cupping an injury which ruled him out of United’s opening two league games against Brighton and Brentford. He was fit enough to make the bench against Liverpool last week and registered an assist after replacing Anthony Elanga at half-time, as Manchester United recorded a massive 2-1 victory over the Reds at Old Trafford.

However, Martial has encountered another setback with the Frenchman once again pulling up in training and is now set to miss this weekend’s clash against Southampton.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has suggested that latest summer signing Casemiro is in line to make his debut for the Red Devils following his 70m move from La Liga champions Real Madrid.

‘We will see tomorrow,’ Ten Hag said when asked for the latest team news at his press conference on Friday. ‘The manager knows but I will first tell the team and we will see tomorrow.

‘Casemiro is fit. He did all of the training sessions. He trained first individually and, the last days, he trained with the team.’
