Senegal and Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane has emerged CAF Player of the Year, following the Awards ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday night.

Sadio Mane was the star attraction at the CAF Awards 2022 as he sought to win another African Footballer of the Year award prize, and he saw off fellow nominees Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool and fellow Senegalese teammate and Chelsea shot-stopper Edouard Mendy to do so.
The 30 year-old had a stellar 2021/2o22 campaign where he won two domestic cups (Carabao Cup and the FA Cup) with Liverpool, and helped the Reds go the distance in the Premier League where they were pipped by Manchester City by one point on the last day and fell to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final.
Also, he excelled in both the CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament – netting the decisive penalty as Senegal won their first-ever title in Cameroon – and in the Play-off round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with the Teranga Lions winning at Egypt’s expense on both occasions.
