Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United; McTominay, Martial & Rashford help Red Devils complete Comeback Victory in Australia

Manchester United recorded their second successive victory in pre-season, following a come-from-behind 3-1 win against Australian A-League outfit Melbourne Victory in a game which took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday.

The hosts took an early lead in the fifth minute when Christopher Ikonomidis found the back of the net, following a sleek counter attacking move but United soon levelled matters through a deflected effort from Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay.

French international Anthony Martial put the Red Devils in front for the first time in the match during first half stoppage time, as United took the lead into the interval.

The second half saw manager Erik ten Hag infuse some changes as he sought to give fringe players a run. England forward Marcus Rashford added a third for the Red Devils, while an own goal from Melbourne Victory defender Edmond Lupancu put the seal on a fine performance as Ten Hag’s men made it two wins from two matches, whose confidence and momentum would have surely skyrocketed – following two brilliant results in pre-season.
