OFFICIAL: Barcelona sign Raphinha from Leeds United

Barcelona have officially announced they have an agreement in principle with Leeds United to sign Raphinha after a complicated transfer saga involving Chelsea.

The Brazilian winger was the target for several top clubs across the continent, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also pursuing his signature early on. However, it boiled down to Chelsea and Barça during the last fortnight.

That said, Raphinha always wanted to join Barcelona over the Blues, which helped the Catalans push the move in their direction despite an agreement between Chelsea and Leeds.

In fact, several reports have stated that Raphinha had agreed personal terms with the Blaugranas in March, courtesy of his agent, Deco. The former Barcelona midfielder was the catalyst in helping Joan Laporta and co. complete the deal.

The fee is quoted to be in the region of €58 million in fixed payment along with €9 million in performance-related variables. He will be signing a five-year contract with the Blaugrana which will run until 2027.
