Wales 1-0 Ukraine; Yarmolenko own goal sends Bale & Cymru to the World Cup for the first time in 64 Years

Wales sealed their spot at the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar for the first time since 1958, courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Ukraine in the playoff Final which took place at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Gareth Bale’s free-kick in the first half was inadvertently headed into his own net by West Ham United striker Andriy Yarmolenko in the 34th minute, and despite the brave efforts of the Ukrainians in the second half, Wales were not to be denied a place at football’s biggest spectacle as they clinched a spot at the Mundial for the first time in 64 years.
