Isco to Leave Real Madrid on a Free Transfer after Nine Trophy-Laden Years

Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco Alarcon has officially announced that he is leaving the Spanish La Liga giants on a free transfer, upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

The 30 year-old Spaniard is leaving the club after nine years in the Spanish capital, as Los Blancos will not extend his deal.

Isco published a farewell letter on his social media account saying: “When I was in Malaga and knew I had to leave I made a commitment to join another team, but Real Madrid called and you just can’t say no, although there are always exceptions .”

I remember telling my people: “Madrid haven’t won the Champions for years but I sense it’s coming,” and then La Decima came and all the the rest is history.

He further added: “Nine years later my stage in the club that made my dreams come true ends. Other than achieving these dreams, winning more titles than I could imagine and play alongside the best players: I HAD A GREAT TIME AND NOBODY CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME! Because no doubt I will remember the good things and I hope you do too!”

“I want to thank my teammates, coaches, therapists, workers at Valdebebas and the Bernabeu for all the work and support that everyone needs and that I never lacked. Also want to thank the fans because they welcomed me from the first day.”

Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti had earlier said that Isco would be leaving the club and would not be having his contract renewed. Isco won a total of 19 trophies across all competitions in his nine-year spell at the club.

Isco’s exit begins the mass exodus of players who will depart the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners this summer. Already, club skipper Marcelo also announced his departure from the club and it is expected that Welshman Gareth Bale will head out the exit door.
