OFFICIAL: Ralf Rangnick Confirms he will NOT stay at Manchester United in Consultancy Role

Ralf Rangnick has announced that he will not be staying on at Manchester United as a consultant, due to the demands of his new role as Head Coach of the Austrian national team.

The 63 year-old German confirmed the news in a press conference with the Austrian national team on Sunday.

A statement from Manchester United revealed: “We would like to thank Ralf Rangnick for his efforts as interim manager over the past six months. By mutual agreement, Ralf will now focus solely on his new role as manager of the Austria national team and will not therefore be taking up a consultancy role at Old Trafford. We would like to wish Ralf the best of luck in this next chapter of his career.”

Rangnick took charge of the Red Devils in an interim capacity in the month of December and led the team through the remainder of the 2021/2022 season, which resulted in Manchester United qualifying for the UEFA Europa League after ending the PL campaign in sixth place.

Also, Rangnick’s time at the helm afforded the club the time to appoint Erik ten Hag as their new manager. He was originally meant to stay on at the club in a consultancy role after the end of his interim spell in charge.

Rangnick will now take charge of Austria for their upcoming Nations League fixtures, as they face Croatia, Denmark and France in Group A1 later this month.
