Manchester United’s abysmal season took a turn for the worse on Saturday evening as they were thrashed 4-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

The Red Devils lacked composure throughout and failed to assert any authority on the game, which they paid for dearly with a crushing defeat as Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard all struck either side of both halves to earn the Seagulls a resounding victory.
The rain of goals began in the first half through Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo, who netted his first-ever Premier League goal. The opening half saw the home side hold on to their slender lead.

As a fan, one would hope that the Red Devils would attempt to recover but the reverse was the case as three goals in the space of eleven minutes changed the complex of the game.
Marc Cucurella doubled the Seagulls’ lead after being assisted by Leandro Trossard, Pascal Gross rolled in a third after being teed up by the impressive Trossard.

It would have been unfair if Leandro Trossard did not get anything for his efforts on the day, but he also found joy as he buried home a fourth goal for Brighton to cap off a comprehensive and memorable win for the hosts.
As for the Red Devils, the loss made it the club’s worst run since 1981 when they suffered five Premier League away defeats in a row. Also, Manchester United have conceded more goals this campaign than in any season in Premier League history.
