BREAKING: Sean Dyche Sacked By Burnley After 10 Years In Charge At Turf Moor

Burnley have sacked manager Sean Dyche, Lancs Live understands.

The Clarets are four points from safety in the Premier League with eight games to play and visit West Ham United on Sunday. But chairman Alan Pace has taken the decision to axe the boss in a bid to beat the drop.

Burnley have won only four games this term and were beaten 2-0 by Norwich City last time out, a damaging defeat which came on the back of a win over Everton.

Dyche has been at Turf Moor since October 2012, leading the Clarets to promotion to the Premier League in his first full season. Burnley were relegated back to the Championship but Dyche led them to the title in 2016 and they have remained in the top flight since.

They finished seventh in 2018, qualifying for the Europa League, but a lack of investment has hampered the Clarets in recent seasons and they finished 17th last season and have been constantly in the relegation fight this term.

Dyche was due to face the media this afternoon for his pre match press conference and it is understood the news has come as a surprise to the squad.

Chairman Alan Pace: Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the Club over the last decade.

“During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community.

“Under-23s coach Mike Jackson, assisted by Academy Director Paul Jenkins, Under-23s goalkeeping coach Connor King and Club Captain Ben Mee have been asked to take charge of the team for Sunday’s game with West Ham United.

“The process of replacing Sean has begun and further announcements will be made to supporters in due course.”
