Footage has emerged of a football fan mocking Manchester United star Mason Greenwood, who will find out within days if he faces rape charges.
The video shows the man shouting “quarantine” and “sh*yae” at the forward, who waved his hand for the man to walk away.
Police are to file a report with prosecutors “immediately” after the 20-year-old England international was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and death threats, the Mirror said.
Greenwood was released on bail last month before being abruptly released by sponsors Nike without receiving a penny in compensation, Sportsmail exclusively revealed in February.
Speaking to The Sun, a source claimed: “He’s still on bail but things are at an advanced stage. The police and CPS are currently debating whether or not to prosecute him.
“There comes a point when a decision has to be made and things have reached that point.” Greenwood has also been removed from video games such as FIFA 22 and Football Manager 2022, as well as United’s app.
Earlier this month Greenwood was pictured driving his car in Altrincham, Greater Manchester for the first time since his arrest.
He remains on bail pending further investigation. GMP confirmed the bail expires on April 30 and could then be extended, Manchester Evening News reports.
Officers arrived at Greenwood’s £14,000-a-month mansion in Cheshire on January 31 after seeing a woman taking to social media to take allegations of physical violence and sexual threats.
The footballer was then arrested on suspicion of raping and assaulting an 18-year-old student.
He was arrested on February 2 on suspicion of sexual assault and death threats, but was released on bail pending further investigation.
Greenwood, regarded as one of England’s most talented young footballers, has been suspended on his full £75,000-a-week salary following United’s arrest.
