Manchester United on the verge of appointing Erik Ten Hag as new manager

English Premier League outfit Manchester United are set to name Dutchman Erik Ten Hag as their new permanent manager.

The 52 year-old who is currently the coach of Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam, was interviewed by the United hierarchy last month where he topped a four-man shortlist that included Mauricio Pochettino of PSG, Spain national team boss Luis Enrique and Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui.

Ten Hag who is now reportedly the preferred candidate, will take up the role at Old Trafford on a permanent basis this summer, replacing German tactician Ralf Rangnick who has been in charge on an interim basis since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last November.

Ten Hag has won two Dutch Eredivisie titles in 2019 and in 2021 as well as reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2019. They are currently four points clear at the top of the domestic league with six matches remaining.
