European heavyweights Spain and Germany are set to slug it out in the group of death at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. England have been drawn with USA in Group B, with Iran and then either Scotland/Wales/Ukraine.

Ghana has an opportunity to avenge their 2010 World Cup elimination when they face Suarez and Uruguay in group H.

The Full Draw is as follows:

Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands,

Group B: England, Iran, USA, ( European playoff – Wales/Scotland/Ukraine)

Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland,

Group D: France, (ICP 1 – Peru/Australia/UAE ), Denmark, Tunisia

Group E: Spain, (ICP2 – Costa Rica/New Zealand), Germany, Japan,

Group F: Belgium, Croatia, Morrocco, Canada

Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon

Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, Korea Republic

The World Cup will begin on November 21 with host nation Qatar hosting Ecuador at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The final will take place on December 18 at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail. Qatar 2022 ​​is the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world

Deschamps brings out the trophy

France boss Didier Deschamps – one of only three players to win the World Cup as a player and a coach – has brought the trophy onto the stage.

No side has retained the World Cup title since Brazil, who won the competition in 1958 and 1962.

The host has arrived, in style with his beautiful partner. Idris Elba and broadcaster Reshmin Chowdhury are presenting today’s show, with FIFA describing it in typically understated terms. The show will “blend Qatar’s history and future in a dazzling football celebration” with “live performances to shine a spotlight on Qatar’s striking fusion of traditional and modern.” Make of that what you will.

The 32 spots at the World Cup have been split into four pots based on FIFA’s most recent world rankings, as well as rewarding those who secured a place as one of the seeded teams. Qatar, as the hosts of this World Cup, have been placed in Pot One with some of the tournament’s favourites, including England, France, Brazil and Argentina.

FIFA Release First FIFA World Cup Official Soundtrack kicks off with Hayya Hayya (Better Together)

The track is set to be performed live for the first time at the World Cup draw in Doha on Friday. The song is by Afrobeat Icon, Davido, breakthrough US star Trinidad Cardona and Qatari sensation Aisha.

In an official statement released on Friday, FIFA said the song “epitomises the excitement of a football festival that will light up the world later this year”.

Qatari native Aisha added: “I am blessed and honoured to exist in these exciting times, where I get to witness and be part of this huge milestone for my country, Qatar.
