Congratulations to the Teranga Lions of Senegal who have qualified for their third FIFA World Cup in their history. They have defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 3-1 on penalties after extra-time. The game had finished 1-1 on aggregate following Senegal’s 1-0 win in the return leg. Egypt had claimed the opening leg 1-0 last week.
Extra-time has not determined the winner of this match, so the drama of a penalty shootout will now take place.

The Black Stars squad set to battle the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Moshod Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen has fielded a strong line-up that includes the likes of Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen and Scottish Premiership side Rangers trio of Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun. In all, Eguavoen has made five changes to the Starting XI that played out a 0-0 draw at Kumasi last Friday.
The Super Eagles are condemned to win this return fixture set to hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, in order to reach their seventh FIFA World Cup. They have the better players and overall squad quality but just like we saw in the first leg, the fierce rivalry with Ghana will not be easy and we expect this match to go down the wire. The Black Stars can book their place at the Mundial if they get victory or a score draw.
During the first leg of matches played last Friday, Ghana were held to a goalless draw by Nigeria at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, while Senegal fell 1-0 away to Egypt in Cairo – courtesy of a fourth minute own goal.
Tuesday’s round of matches are the second legs in the third phase (Play-Off Round) of the CAF Qualifying Series for the 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Qatar.
Today sees the conclusion of the African Qualification Series for the Mundial and the continent’s five representatives will be known by the end of the day’s hostilities.
Good evening and welcome to Apex Football’s LIVE coverage of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (CAF Zone) between the Super Eagles of Nigeria vs the Black Stars Ghana and the Teranga Lions of Senegal vs the Pharaohs of Egypt.
