KICK-OFF AT THE WEMBLEY STADIUM: Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

In the light of recent happenings in Ukraine, it is heart-warming to see football fans unite in solidarity as the world continues to preach the message of peace, unity and love.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has only won two of his eight finals as a manager. First was with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in the 2011/2012 German Cup and with Liverpool in the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea could become the first team to beat a top-flight side in every round of a League Cup-winning campaign, if they get over Liverpool tonight. They have knocked out Aston Villa, Southampton, Brentford and Tottenham.

As for Liverpool, manager Jurgen Klopp has named second-choice shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher in goal in place of number one Brazilian Allison Becker, while the regular suspects in Mo Salah and Sadio Mane alongside January signing Luiz Diaz will spearhead the attack for the Reds.

Chelsea gaffer Thomas Tuchel has once again dropped club-record signing Romelu Lukaku to the bench while the trio of Christian Pulisic, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount will do the damage upfront for the Londoners.

Chelsea have already had a great season, having won the UEFA Super Cup in August and the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this month and are currently in third position in the Premier League. Liverpool themselves are in second place on the log – six points adrift of leaders and defending champions Manchester City but with a game in hand. The last time the Reds won silverware was the Premier League title in the 2019/2020 season.

Today’s epic contest will see West London outfit Chelsea take on Merseysiders Liverpool at the famous Wembley Stadium and we here at Apex Football are set to bring you LIVE happenings and updates as the action unfolds.

Finally, the big day is here! It is the Final of the 2021/2022 EFL Cup otherwise called the Carabao Cup, where the first domestic trophy of the English football season will be awarded.
