Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

Club World Cup champions Chelsea return to Premier League action this afternoon with a trip across the capital to face Crystal Palace.

Now 16 points adrift of leaders Manchester City and seven off Liverpool, the Blues could be forgiven for looking nervously over their shoulder. With a game in hand, Chelsea hold only a six-point lead over West Ham in fifth with Manchester United two points closer.

After their triumph in Abu Dhabi, Thomas Tuchel’s side are on a run of four consecutive wins and have beaten the Eagles in each of their last eight meetings.

As for Palace, the month of January went by without a victory and their last league win came back in late December, with two draws their lead-up to this capital clash.

Arsenal vs Brentford

Only three points will do for Arsenal when Brentford come across town for today’s Premier League clash.

The Bees memorably delivered an opening-day blow to the Gunners in West London to set up their promising start to life in the top-flight, instantly putting Mikel Arteta on the back foot.

However, Arsenal have recovered to put themselves in genuine contention of a top-four finish. A victory at the Emirates will close the gap to Manchester United to a single point, with West Ham playing in the early kick-off.

Brentford are without a league win of their own since January 2 and have let their standards slip somewhat in recent weeks, although a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace last time out steadied the ship. A seven-point advantage over Norwich in 18th keeps the Bees comfortable, for now.

Liverpool vs Norwich City

Following a successful trip to Italy and 2-0 victory over Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie, Liverpool are back in Premier League action as they push to keep pace with leaders Manchester City. This Saturday, the Reds face off against relegation-threatened Norwich City, with the Canaries currently four points from safety and having already played at least a game more than the sides they’re chasing.
