FT: Gambia 0-2 Cameroon, Toko Ekambi brace secures semifinal spot for the host nation

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have booked a spot in the semifinals of the AFCON 2021 tournament. Brace from Toko Ekambi sent minnows, Gambia, packing.

The hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations continued their quest for glory with a game against minnows Gambia this afternoon.
Japoma Stadium in Douala hosted the Lions’ quarter-final tie with the lowest-ranked side that qualified for the tournament, with the West Africans 150th in the world and enjoying their AFCON debut.

The game was tied at halftime but it did not take long for the goals to come in the second half. Toko Ekambi scored in the 50th and 57th minute for Cameroon in the second half.

Gambia bowed out in style, but they would be remembered for their resilience which brought them this far in the tournament.
